"You think you're so quick?" Ulric's voice was winded but cheery as the wolf sped through the mountains, jumping from precarious perch to perch. What Ulric had been speaking to was currently scurrying up through crags and over rocks. A small rodent-like creature, it was, and Ulric had volunteered the poor creature as his new companion and playmate, if only for the duration of the chase. It wasn't as if Ulric was hungry, either, he had not intention of killing the rodent. He was just lonely, really, as he tended to get and leapt at the chance of some sort of interaction.
Up, up the mountain they raced, Ulric's black figure moving like a dark shadow over the terrain. He slipped, he nearly fell, but the young male only laughed, keeping up with the game. Eventually both rodent and wolf reached something of a plateau and the smaller creature dove into a burrow, leaving its pursuer stumbling to a halt.
Ulric's laughter was light and brilliant but broken as he panted and gasped to catch his breath. The impromptu game of chase had lead Ulric far off track, not that he had had one to begin with, but he'd been pretty sure he was traveling North. Now the wolf wasn't sure where he was, not that it mattered, he excelled at playing things by ear.
"Good game, good game." The dark-colored male said and though his eyes were blue as cold oceans of the arctic, they were warm, delighted. Ulric drew in a long breath before exhaling and starting the process of assessing his surroundings. The wolf padded forth and scaled higher before reaching another stretch of flat ground.
Then, then he grew still and he grew silent, blue eyes wide in awe at the sight that greeted him. Off in the distance, etched into the mountains were buildings. He'd seen some before but never like this, never this ancient looking and impressive.
"Well, well, this is turning out to be quite the adventure." Ulric's velvet voice was deep and spirited as he spoke to himself. He sat down and took the scene in, smiling faintly to himself. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. The wolf was content to rest for a while and let his eyes wander over the city and the sky and the mountains. He felt so small compared to it all, but for some reason that aching loneliness was gone. He felt at peace and he was glad for it.

The land that lay spread out before the midnight-colored one was the land of Tlaloc. Many, many years ago, it had been a festive kingdom for the humans once native to the area. Now, after the great destruction of the entirety of man kind, it held the very same potential, but not at human hands. In this day in age, it was run by the wolves, and a child of the Gods.
Nestled high within the mountains, a city built to function with the steep slopes resided, a safe haven, for those who knew of its whereabouts. However, much to its leader's dismay, that number was small. Tlaloc, because of its apparently treacherous terrain, was secluded, and only a small handful of canines made up the pack. Its steep hills were a grand deterrent against invaders, but as of late, Eztli found it to be quite the nuisance.
She wanted nothing more than to see her family flourish.
So, as the tendrils of slumber had drifted away from the Coya in the wee hours of the morning, Eztli was pleasently surprised to find a pair of eyes within her mind's eye. Eyes that reminded her of cool twilight hours spent atop the peaks of Khuno, when sleep escaped her, replaced by whirlwind thoughts. Such a moment, a premonition if one may so call it, was not necessarily a skill that she herself had honed, but rather something built into the very fiber of her being.
Today, one would come to her.
It was a thought that brought a smile to the Coya's vibrant eyes, as she stepped lightly throughout her homestead, slender limbs carrying her with a distinct spring. Though she was a child of the Gods, Eztli prefered her actions to be natural, explainable. Where her sister would delve into the very existance of others, to learn their past, present and future, their thoughts, their desires, to learn everything of them, Eztli simply minded her own. She prefered surprises. And to her, such an invasion of privacy, seeking out every single thread of being within an individual, was rather obtrusive, and a betrayal in itself.
When one was destined to live for an eternity, sometimes it was best to leave mysteries unexplained.
To Eztli, her sister was nosy. No, nosy was not the word. Eden strived for knowledge, to remain all-powerful and put the fear of the gods into those she encountered. She took only the cream of the crop, picking through each individual as if they were produce in long-dead market places. Eztli prefered to remain unknowing, forming her own opinion as she was given the chance to watch each member grow. After all, Eden could not tell their potential growth, she had no idea what they could all become.
And where Eden seemed to enjoy mesmerizing her potential members by speaking their name before an introduction, or before she even revealed herself, Eztli prefered the more 'hands-on' approach. One most not take without giving something in return. If she asked questions, they could do so with her as well. And the whole concept of traveling into limbo to simply spy on, or observe, was alien to Eztli. Phasing in and out of visibility separated herself from her members, and she prefered to remain on the same level as them.
So, the Coya had made her preparations and left early in the day, her lean, long legs carrying her with surprising ease down the steep slopes of Khuno. She did not know where she would find him, or at what time, but she let her paws do the walking, and enjoyed her momentary break from what could have been another slow-paced day. And when she heard a voice just beyond her line of sight, the Coya slowed her pace, pierced ears perking with such intensity that the many baubles in her ears tinkled in the crisp air.
She wore a warm smile within her intensly orange irises as she crested the hill at a liesurely place, after hearing the jovial laughter and warm-hearted words of the dark velvet voice. Slowing her steps to come to a complete stop within the other's peripheral vision, Eztli stared at the walking shadow with the same grin, her short tail wagging gently behind her.
"Well, are not all adventures something of wonder, my friend?" She called, announcing her presence in a friendly manner, head tilted ever so slightly to the said as she studied the male."Welcome to Tlaloc."

It was the out-of-place sound of jingling metal that first alerted Ulric to the Coya's presence. His ears perked and his head turned just in time to catch sight of Eztli as she entered his field of vision. The many articles of jewelry the canine wore caught and held Ulric's attention. Never before had he seen someone wear so many interesting things. His immediate thought was that she had to be someone of standing, someone of rank to be able to adorn herself with such rich looking objects.
His dark, dark eyes met her orange gaze and Ulric smiled, the gesture ringing warm and pleasant. He'd been traveling with not hint of another canine for weeks and now he was ecstatic to be speaking to one. He hated being alone, he really did, but now he wasn't and now he could talk, he could look at, he could hear, and he could smell another.
Ulric stood, pushing up from the ground in a single fluid motion. His mirth-filled eyes wandered over Eztli and he tilt his head just silently, meeting her gaze just as a coy smile spread across his muzzle.
"Well, hello there, beautiful." The male purred out, but it was all in good humor. It was within his nature to be flirtatious, to be open and to speak in such a roguish manner. "Tlaloc?" Ulric repeated, casting a look over his shoulder and back towards the ancient city. So this place had a name, interesting.
" Thank you, gorgeous, for the welcome." He gave Eztli a quick wink and a quick smile, standing before her, absolutely radiating a sense of good cheer and charisma.
" My name is Ulric, and may I be so bold as to request your name? I always like to be able to place names to faces, especially ones as pretty as yours." Another grin and though his fur was dark, dark as a starless night's sky, his expression seemed bright, seemed warm.

Eztli watched the midnight male with a faint, yet unmistakable smile upon her features. A gentle laugh was even loosed at his friendly, flirtatious purr. She seemed to have quite a lively bunch of males coming into Tlaloc. Not that she minded of course; it made things very, very interesting.
"My pleasure, handsome." Came the laughter-filled response to his word of thanks. No sense in not being able to play back. Friendly banter was something that Eztli lived for, after all. Besides, the male simply radiated nothing but warmth, the infectious kind at that. It did the wolfess' heart good to encounter such an individual.
"Ulric..." Eztli tested his name upon her own tongue, still wearing a warm smile as she stared at the male before her. Such a strong personality. He would do well within Tlaloc, if he wished to stay.
"Hardly bold, my friend. More pleasantly polite, I'd wager." She paused to flash him a grin before stepping up to stand atop the gently rolling hill alongside him. "My name is Eztli." With a gentle flick of a heavily pierced ear, orange eyes still remaining on his dark form, Eztli tilted her head curiously. "What brings you to Tlaloc, oh midnight wanderer?"

The grin that lit across his features was warm and ecstatic. It always pleased Ulric when others were able to join into the game of harmless flirts. It proved that they, like he, were light-hearted and good humored. With more humor in the world there'd be a lot less grief and violence. The young male watched the other with a keen gaze, one that glittered with fascination. And Eztli was fascinating. The manner of gold and jewelry she adorned herself in was a source of great curiosity to the dark wolf. A curiosity made obvious by the open way he looked and studied the objects.
"Eztli," He said with a smile, blue eyes flicking up to meet the female's. " I like it." Ulric quipped and gave a wink and a cheeky grin. At her question he gave pause to think. Why was he here? That was a good query. There was never really any reason to his being anywhere at any given point. Ulric was a wanderer, a vagrant to the winds.
"I...honestly don't know." At that he gave a slightly sheepish but humored laugh. " I just found my way here. Wandering and all that." It was that that his attention returned to the impressive city that lay a distance away. " I must say, though, I'd like to make it over there, to explore, to have a little adventure." A sly smile was given to Eztli as his attention returned to her.
"I take it this is your home?" Ulric asked. " And a beautiful home it is, though something of a pain to travel over all these cliffs and mountains. But fun, very fun."
