At his growled interrogation, Eztli simply stared, realization hitting her like a bag of bricks. Rukin did not know of those 'parlor tricks' that Eden and she were capable of. He was also in a rather stress-heightened mood, not to mention paranoid, all of which became as glaringly obvious as it should have been earlier. She really should have at lieast tried to explain.
Ah well, everyone may not have perfect eyesight, but hindsight was always 20/20.
Dipping her head in apology, the wolfess continued up towards her brother, orange eyes watching his carefully. Ruskin had changed. She had sensed it from the first moments of his arrival. However, like her brother, she had not been expecting something so out of her ordinary.
Keeping her tone calm, Eztli continued watching her brother, making note of the change in his eyes, and the actual physical change of his tail. "Home...." Was all she could manage for a second, mesmerized by Ruskin's alterations to his appearance. "I went home, brother..."
She did not know how much he had changed from only moments before. His physical attributes were obvious, but she did not know of his personality; she knew very little of the Changed. Keeping a wary eye on Ruskin, she remained still. Now would be a good time to play it safe, and avoid any abrupt movements until she knew how to approach her sibling.
"I did not think it would startle you... I merely wanted to save you time... I know how much you love your peaople, Ruskin. Time is of the essence, correct?" Orange eyes remained riveted on his form, her tone still calm and collected. "I apologize, brother... There was no ill-intent on my part, I promise. Nothing is amiss..."

"Home... I went home, brother..."[/u]
"What the hell do you mean, 'Home?!'" he demanded, tail lashing out and angrily cutting deep into a nearby tree. The tip was as sharp as a razor...
Ruskin watched his sister carefully, his eye scanning over her as she approached. The tip of his tail flicked around with a wild, yet seemingly controlled movement, coming to bear at a position not unlike that of a scorpion before receding and returning to its "normal" state. He had to gain control of himself.
"I apologize, brother... There was no ill-intent on my part, I promise. Nothing is amiss..."
"It's fine..." he grunted. "Let's get moving..."
As he turned to move toward the ship, something slid beneath his fur again. He pretended to take no notice.

It took great control on Eztli's part not to flinch, at both her brother's angry tone and the deep gouge his tail cut into the old tree. Orange eyes blinked, even more startled before, then she shot a set stare his way. Enough nonsense.
"Home as in Khuno. My home, Ruskin." Her words were choppy and cold as she continued to stare at him. She had seen her brother angry before, but for him to unleash it verbally upon her. That was uncalled for.
However, any irritation fueled smart-ass remarks were put away at her brother's grunt. With an agitated flick of her ear, she stepped towards him, falling in step along his side. And just as he pretended not to notice, Eztli followed suit, orange eyes staring ahead of them as she kept pace with her brother.
Long stretches of silence passed, and finally, nerves grated sufficiently, Eztli snorted. "Are we to spend our trip in silence because of your tantrum, Ruskin, or will you at least talk to me?" The words came out a little harsher than even Eztli thought neccessary, as heated as her thoughts were. Knowing that, she sent a slightly more gentle look in Ruskin's direction, silently apologizing for her snappish behavior.

He continued on in silence, his anger flaring quietly. He didn't show it physically - at least, not in a normal sense. His flesh rippled again, this time much more spurradically. It moved around under his eye, the mud in the whites of his eyes glowing an odd color momentarily. He was angered, and he was not a wolf to anger.
"Are we to spend our trip in silence because of your tantrum, Ruskin, or will you at least talk to me?"
A switch was flicked. Not only in Ruskin's head, but in his very cells. Something unleashed itself for a brief moment. Just long enough to stir up hell...
The rippling worsened for a brief moment before a long, thin stinger ripped out of Ruskin's side, stabbing itself into the base of Eztli's neck. Images were injected into her... Horrible, nightmarish images...
The world was afire. The sun blared overhead, and sands ripped at all in sight. Dozens of wolves ran amongst one another, biting and clawing at each other, odd appendages and mutations flashing with claws and fangs, tearing deep into one another.
The images ended suddenly, and the appendage retracted into Ruskin's flesh once again. He gave her a level look and spoke in a cold, monotone voice that was not his own. He was never that calm. "... That is the reason our time is pressed. There's no longer time for foolishness, Eztli."

A rather un-canid hiss escaped Eztli as a sharp pain pierced her neck. She staggered, suddenly frozen as orange eyes went wide and unseeing, mind too busy absorbing the images transferred between the two. Spine retracting, orange eyes flared briefly with a literal glow, vibrant and as orange as the tropical sunsets. Eztli hissed again, teeth bared at her brother as she took a few staggering steps to the side.
Pierced ears lay flat against her skull, thick mane raised along her spine, shorter tail whipping behind her as she growled. Confusion, and bewilderment at the mere thought of her own brother attacking her was the reasoning behind such instinctual movements. Irises danced, alive with a fire-light so intense one could almost hear the crackling. She snarled, glaring hard at her brother as the after-effects of the transfer faded.
Jowls twitched in agitation, baring sharp canines even more as her growl grew in volume at his words, at his tone. "I offered you help." The words came out razor sharp, rumbling with her growl as she continued glaring in his direction. Then suddenly, her intensity faded, and her own features took on a completely blank expression. "No... I offered my brother help." Her words were strangely subdued as she stared at the male.
With a stiff shake of her head, and an angry snort, her anger flared again, almost tangible. "You are not Ruskin." She spoke almost as if she were trying to convince herself it were true. "Regardless of his perils, my brother would never..." Irises flared again, and Eztli snarled, on the defensive again.
"Go." She snapped, teeth clicking audibly in the air between the two of them. Her words were clear, concise and icy cold. "I will help my brother. But not you."

Ruskin's eyes cleared and he shook his head out, panting a bit as his body returned to his control. "...Help..." he whispered. Pain overcame him, shooting up his spine and right into his skull as he howled and collapsed onto the dirt. His face contorted, fangs bared with eyes shut tight as he struggled not to cry out. It almost looked as though an invisible force were grinding him into the ground with some force, as he was virtually crushed against the forest floor.
The force let up after a full minute, and he staggered back up onto his feet. "...Ez... I don't know how much longer I've got. This thing's going to kill me." His fangs were still bared a bit as he bit back the pain. He started staggering toward where his ship was docked.

Anger was swiftly whipped away to be replaced by confusion, which was replaced in an instant with concern for her brother. Long legs cleared the space between them immediately, and Eztli as at her brother's side, ears pinned back again, though this time she was fretting over the pained look across Ruskin's features. She whined, feeling helpless, even as a Goddess, and nudged him gently behind the ear with her nose.
As he stood, Eztli stepped with him, refusing to budge from his side, just on the off-chance he should need her. Ears lowered sadly at his words, and she shook her head as she kept the slow pace beside him. "It won't kill you. Never say that again." The sternness in her voice paled in comparison to her earlier demand, but there was no less soul behind it.
"You'll get through this, Ruskin... And I will help." She gave a nod, mostly to herself. "I promise that I will do all that I can, brother."

"...Fair enough," he replied. "You don't leave me with this damned thing, and I won't have to mention it again..." His eyes seemed saddened as he watched his sister. The confrontation between his new parasitic invading personality and her had been something he was hoping to put off as long as possible. Unfortunately, that wasn't exactly something he had control over. "As much of an asshole as it may come across as, it just wants what we're about to fight for," Ruskin informed his sister. "...To survive."
